Cubs

Ages: 3 - 4 year olds
Tuesdays -  5:30

Thursdays - 4:15

45 minutes.

This is a teacher-recommended class and is designed for the 3 to 4-year-old  who is ready to separate from a parent and can take direction from the instructor. This is considered their first ‘big kid’ class here at SMG. Your child will be working independently on beginner skills, taking turns & learning to cooperate with peers. We utilize current themes, trends, and props to make our classes full of FUN!! We will keep a low ratio because the children will be on their own out in the gym to further their progression in gymnastics.

Qualifications - Must be 3 years old and able to work independently and be separated from a parent.

Kinder Cubs

Ages: 4 - 5
Tuesdays - 4:15 or 6:45

Thursdays - 5:30

Advanced Class - Tuesday 6:45 (invite only)

1 hour Class

This is an exciting time for your Kinder Cub gymnasts! This class starts your child’s seamless transition from our Preschool Gym Program into our School Age program. This 55 minute class will allow more time for working on and learning our basic core skills, such as handstands, cartwheels, and round-offs. Those skills are needed to achieve even more difficult skills.

 

We provide a positive experience with physical fitness in class. We incorporate a blend of music, gymnastics (bars, beam, tumbling, and trampoline) and the use of small motor equipment such as rhythmic ribbons, hoops, balls, and balloons. We also have great educational monthly themes.

Gymnastics

Ages: 6 & up

A class for girls consisting of basic, intermediate, and advanced gymnastics skills. Activities in these classes include tumbling, vault, bars, and beam. The gymnastics classes are grouped into three levels based on a gymnast’s ability. This non-competition class is designed to progress athletes to the next level in gymnastics and prepare them to join our competition teams if they wish to join one.

Gymnastics 101

Tuesday 4:15 or 5:30 & Thursday 4:15, 5:30 & 6:45

This is a one hour beginning gymnastics class. Gymnasts will learn basic, fundamental gymnastics skills, which include cartwheels, rolls, handstands, bridges, and beginning skills on vault, bars, and beam. Bronze skills must be mastered before advancing to a Silver Level.

Gymnastics 102

Tuesday 6:45

This is a one hour intermediate gymnastics class. An instructor must refer a gymnast to enroll in a 102 Level class. Gymnasts will work to advance the skills that they learned in Bronze, working on skills such as round-offs, bridge kick overs, back handsprings, and more advanced skills on vault, bars, and beam. Silver skills must be mastered before advancing to a Gold Level.

Cheer & Tumbling

Ages: 6 & up

Our recreational cheer & tumbling program provides an environment for athletes to begin, continue and further their Cheer and tumbling experience. These classes are great to build skills needed for cheerleaders, dancers or if you just want to learn how to tumble. We offer a variety of classes to allow our youngest and oldest athletes to reach their goals. We provide a USAG certified staff that has a passion for helping our athletes reach their highest potential in their sport.

 

SMG Cheer and Tumbling 101

Monday 4:15, 5:30 and 6:45

Is geared toward athletes ages 6 and up and all skill levels beginner to intermediate. This class teaches all aspects of cheer leading, including motions, jumping, stunting, and tumbling. Instructors also work to build strength, coordination, flexibility, and technique. Tumbling in our 101 classes is specifically for beginner cheerleaders and those looking to learn the skills of tumbling. Skills taught in this class will include handstands, cartwheels, Round offs, front and back walkovers. We will work on drill that led up to standing back handsprings, standing back tucks, front handsprings, and front tucks.

 

SMG Cheer and Tumbling 102 & 103: Intermediate and Advance Tumbling

Monday 6:45

Students at this tumbling level should have a standing back handspring. Other Skills we will work on at this level are standing back handsprings, standing back tucks, front handsprings, and front tucks. They will also be working on connecting tumbling skills. These classes are focused on physical development of air sense necessary to perform salto's and aerials skills. As students advance through the levels, they learn the drills and lead up skills needed to develop forward, backward, and aerial tumbling skills. They will work on this air sense by adding stunts that include a Flyer.

Ninja with Nia

 

 

 

SMG Ninja program aims to give young athletes the confidence and foundation they need to excel in any sport. Here they will train to become proficient in rolling, running, jumping, flipping, and swinging as well as build strength and mobility. Our coaches create an environment where your child can improve social skills, cognitive skills, and grit. The best part is that ninja is for everyone! Ninja Cubs - ages 5-6

Monday 4:15

Preschool aged ninjas. Working mostly on developmental skills. Our mini ninjas focus on cognitive, social, and playground skills. We work on problem solving to get through an obstacle course, following directions with our listening skills. We also learn how to do a handstand and cartwheel, all while playing and having fun with our fellow ninjas.

Ninja 101 - ages 6-12

Monday 5:30 or 6:45

Our beginning Ninja class is for those who have never attended a Ninja class. We learn basic skills with front rolls, vaulting (running), swinging, and flipping. It is a fun and energetic class. We learn how to encourage our fellow ninjas and to help work together as a team.

Hot Shots & Devo Program - Pre Team:

Invitation only program: Mondays / Wednesdays for gymnast 4 & up

The Pre-Team program is an elite group of young girls who demonstrate skills and traits required to pursue competitive gymnastics. This is a transitional program designed to prepare the athletes for one of our competitive teams by ensuring that they have what it takes to compete. Here, the gymnast will learn the proper skills and techniques, thus creating a solid foundation required for the competitive gymnastics program.

SMG Xcel & Optional Gymnastics Team:

Our Xcel Gymnastics Team starts with our Bronze Level Gymnast and goes through our Optional Levels. Our team meets 2, 3 or 4 days a week according to the level of your athlete. This is an invitation program for the girls in our program and outside our program. If you are interested in trying our competitive program. we offer a 3 week Free trail for our team program.

Our Xcel Gymnastics program has Tennessee State and Regional Champions. Our Competition program and coaches are registered with USAG. We attend 7- 8 competitions each season including State and Regional Championships.
